In 1990 Dr. Billy Walker founded Dermatopathology Associates, the first full-service, independent dermatopathology laboratory in Mississippi. We are proud of our growth, and of our commitment to providing unparalleled medical care for our clients and our patients for over 30 years. We offer complimentary courier service for local offices and free, fast shipping of specimens for those outside of our local courier area. Turn-around time for most cases (those not requiring special studies) is within one business day. All of our physicians are board certified in dermatopathology by both the American Board of Pathology and the American Board of Dermatology. Our physicians are available to discuss cases with consulting practitioners 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. We have the flexibility to tailor our practice to suit clients’ needs, and we are always open to discussing how we can help provide the best medical care for patients.
Kellen Dawson, MD
Dr. Dawson graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2018. She completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she served as chief resident. She stayed on to complete her fellowship in dermatopathology. Dr. Dawson joined Dermatopathology Associates in 2023. She is thrilled to return to Jackson and join such a collegial group, as she and her husband met at Millsaps College. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time with her husband and two young children.
Jennifer Schulmeier, MD
Dr. Schulmeier graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in 1994. After completing her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and fellowships in hematopathology, surgical pathology and dermatopathology, Dr. Schulmeier joined Dr. Walker in the practice of dermatopathology in 2000. She is a Fellow of the College of American Pathology, a member of the American Society of Dermatopathology and an affiliate member of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is secretary of the Mississippi Dermatology Association and serves as affiliate faculty in the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Schulmeier is a proud Texan and (relatively) new Mississippian. She and her husband Greg enjoy the outdoors, the culinary arts and the performing arts, especially ballet and opera.
Buu Duong, MD
Dr. Duong graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 2011. After completing his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and fellowship in dermatopathology at Tulane University, Dr. Duong joined Dermatopathology Associates in 2016. Having grown up in the South, Dr. Duong craved southern hospitality, and the Jackson community made him feel right at home. Dr. Duong currently serves as the Chair of the Mississippi House of Delegates for the College of American Pathologists, and he has served on multiple committees for the American Society of Dermatopathologists, including the virtual slide committee. He is also an active member in the Mississippi Dermatology Association and the American Academy of Dermatology. As affiliate faculty for the Department of Dermatology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Dr. Duong regularly lectures to dermatology and pathology residents and serves as attending physician during resident rotations at Dermatopathology Associates. In his spare time, Dr. Duong enjoys exercising and traveling with his family.
